Dr Jacquie Narotso Oliwa, Kiwimbi Kenya Board Member
Jacquie is a pediatrician, health systems researcher, a lecturer at The University of Nairobi’s College of Health Sciences and a PhD student with the University of Amsterdam, under an Initiative to Develop African Leaders-Wellcome Trust funded grant. Having spent most of her life studying, Jacquie considers herself a lifelong learner. She believes learning truly never stops if one is intentional to stay curious and inquisitive. She credits her zest for learning from being an avid reader from childhood. Books were always her escape to new worlds and exciting adventures. She also has had the fortune of amazing mentors who believed in her and encouraged her to always be the best she can be.
Jacquie joined the Kiwimbi board after learning of the work they do in Busia (the county Jacquie hails from), which incidentally has Kenya’s highest rate of teen pregnancy and school drop outs, with low literacy levels. She believes serving with Kiwimbi provides her an excellent opportunity to mentor young people in her home county and help change the narrative of teen pregnancies and low literacy.
