Food For Thought
A major part of Kiwimbi’s work is our lunch program – providing lunch at school for kids studying for the national exam. That’s why we started our monthly giving program called Food for Thought:
• Kids can’t learn on an empty stomach
• Rural Kenyan schools do not provide lunch
• Often families have no food when kids come home mid-day to eat, especially before crops come in
Your commitment to monthly giving helps guarantee a steady source of food, making all the difference in the world for these kids!
A gift of just $25 a month will assure that two children eat a solid meal every day of the year!

How does a child learn on an empty stomach? In under-privileged areas of sub-Saharan Africa, kids face this issue daily. In rural Kenya, these kids, some of whom live miles from school, typically walk home at lunch for a meal that may or may not be there – while at school they try to prepare for high-stakes exams that determine if they will continue with their education after Grade 8.

Volunteering and other Opportunities
- Travel with Kiwimbi to see a bit of wild Kenya and also visit our first Community Learning Center in the rural west to meet our teachers and the families we serve – or spend some extra time in Amagoro as an intern or committed volunteer to teach your own special skills.
- Not ready for a trip to Kenya? There is plenty to do in the US! Do you enjoy event planning? Hosting friends who might like to know about us in your home? spreading the word through social media? Let us know your skills or what inspires you, and we’ll see what we can work out.
