Paul Burnore

Trustee, Kiwimbi International

Paul was initially drawn to Kiwimbi because of his background in education and development overseas. He served as a Peace Corps teacher from 1971 to 1973 in rural southern Thailand. Later, he was the first Peace Corps country director in Kazakhstan (1992–1995), where he established programs for rural communities in education, small business development, health, and environmental initiatives. He also worked with USAID in Russia from 1995 to 1996, assisting in the recovery of collapsed companies and communities. In 2011–2012, he served as managing director of All Hands Volunteers, an international disaster relief non-profit.

In 2021, while visiting Kiwimbi in Amagoro, Kenya, he observed underserved rural children enthusiastically learning at the Kiwimbi Library and Community Learning Center, and in their local schools. As a trustee, he has witnessed many children thrive through Kiwimbi’s academic programs. Many other children and young adults are served through opportunities in vocational training including carpentry, tailoring, agri-nutrition, art, and sports.
